Jiraan Ensemble: CD PRESENTATION – SIRTO

  • Cultuurcentrum Brugge 20 Sint-Jakobsstraat Brugge, Vlaams Gewest, 8000 Belgium (map)

Jiraan is an ensemble that brings the best of many worlds. It is no coincidence that the translation of the Arabic group name is 'neighbours'. The collective led by violinist Shalan Alhamwy explores Middle Eastern sounds, Balkan, baroque and jazz.

In their latest album Sirto, the band members look for the origins of the music form of the same name. This style goes together with the traditional row dance similar to dabke, in which participants form a chain or circle. We challenge you to dance between the seats of the theater and keep your lungs in rhythm during this breathtaking concert.
